The celebration of the most awaited festival of the Mising community Ali -ai -ligang

Ali -Ai-Ligang is a colourful festival celebrated by the Mising Tribes in Assam . It is held on the first Wednesday of Fagun (February -March) .
During Ali ai ligang the mising community of the state celebrates the onset of seed sowing by organising community feasts , singing 'oi nitoms 'And dancing to 'gumrag'. Ali means root and seed , "ai" means fruit , and " ligang" means to saw . This is why the onset of sowing seeds begins on this day . the fastival lasts for 5 days . Ali ai Ligang is a spring festival associated with agriculture , specially with the beginning of the Ahu paddy cultivation. the ali ai ligang festival is the most vibrant fastival of the mishing people .
