Assam: 19-year-old held for allegedly kidnapping and raping minor girl in Cachar district

Guwahati: In a horrific incident, a 19-yr-old man was arrested for allegedly kidnapping and raping a 14-year-old girl in Assam’s Cachar district.
The incident took place on September 19.
On the same day, an FIR was lodged by the minor girl’s family members, the official said.
The arrested person is a resident of the Udharbond area around 15kms from Silchar town and drove the auto-rickshaw.
According to a family member, the accused trapped and forcibly abducted the victim in his auto-rickshaw.
“She then revealed that he had threatened and tortured her and later took her to a forest area and repeatedly raped her,” family members claimed.
Meanwhile, the accused was arrested from the Udharbond area and registered a case against him under sections 365, 376 of the Indian Penal Code, and section 4 of the POCSO Act, officially added.
The arrested person is being questioned by police as they do further investigation.
On Thursday, he produced before the court, officially added.
