Man sentenced to 3 years of jail for pulling girl’s “dupatta with sexual intent” in Mumbai

A man in Mumbai was given a three-year prison sentence after being found guilty of pulling a schoolgirl's "dupatta" (stole) with "sexual intent."

A special court in Mumbai sentenced the 20-year-old man to a jail term.

The court further noted that such an occurrence terrorises the victims' and their families' minds.

According to reports, the individual was found guilty of offences related to the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (PCSO) and Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) (POSCO).

The victim was 15 years old and a student in class 10 when the incident took place.
