Battery-powered electric cars are more harmful to the environment than traditional cars: IIT Kanpur study

New Delhi: Battery powered electric cars are more harmful than traditional cars A recent study conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has claimed that electronic cars are no more eco-friendly than hybrid cars and traditional internal combustion engine cars.

According to a report by the Engine Research Laboratory of IIT Kanpur, the manufacture, use and scraping of electric cars is producing 15 to 50 per cent more greenhouse gas (GHG) than hybrid (HEVs) and conventional engine cars.
