Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act extended for another six months in four districts of Assam

Guwahati: The Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, 1958 has been extended for another six months in four districts of Assam. The act has been extended to four districts for six months from April 1.

The political department of the state government issued a notification saying that the period of the Act has been extended considering the areas covering Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Charaideo and Sivasagar districts as "disturbed areas" under AFSPA. AFSPA has been increased till September 30, 2024.
