Assam CM reviews development initiatives and welfare schemes
Guwahati: Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today chaired a detailed review meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat in Dibrugarh to assess the implementation of ongoing development initiatives and key welfare schemes in the Margherita Legislative Assembly Constituency. During the meeting with senior district officials, members of the local administration and elected representatives, the Chief Minister stressed the need for timely completion of infrastructure projects, effective last‑mile delivery of government welfare schemes and strengthening of healthcare and education services in the constituency. In the meeting, the Chief Minister reviewed updates on schemes such as PMAY, Jal Jeevan Mission, Orunodoi and Ayushman Bharat. He also took stock of communication‑related issues, including the need for foot overbridges and the progress of the Asom Mala project. Moreover, he assessed the efficacy and functioning of health centres, manpower deployment and the status of Model Anganwadi Centres in Margherita. The Chief Minister also reviewed the ongoing erosion management projects and stressed the need for their swift completion. He assured that erosion control would continue to be a priority for the government with measures to be undertaken on a war footing. Further, in view of the shortfall of rain and the emerging drought-like situation in Margherita and other parts of Tinsukia district, he directed DC Swapnil Paul to expedite beneficiary enrollment under the PM’s Fasal Bima Yojana and to scale up works under MGNREGA so that more people can be engaged in livelihood-generating activities. He also reviewed the status of issuing birth certificates and Aadhaar cards for children and assured full government support to resolve any challenges in the delivery of public services. He moreover emphasized on timely execution of government schemes to ensure that their benefits reach the grassroots. Dr. Sarma also reviewed the progress of road connectivity and bridge construction projects, while assessing the status of academic infrastructure and teacher vacancies. Reiterating the government’s commitment to inclusive development, Dr. Sarma assured that any bottlenecks in the implementation of schemes and projects would be addressed promptly. He urged officials to ensure transparency and efficiency in service delivery with particular focus on reaching marginalized communities. Minister Bimal Bora, MLA Bhaskar Sharma and senior officers were present at the meeting.
