CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Meets PM Modi, Invites FM Sitharaman to Assam
New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday and briefed him on the state's progress across socio-economic indicators and welfare schemes.
"Had the privilege of calling upon Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji in New Delhi today," Sarma posted on X. He also conveyed Assam's eagerness to welcome the PM on September 8 for the inauguration of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary celebrations and India’s first bio-ethanol plant in Numaligarh.
Later in the day, Sarma met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and invited her to lay the foundation stone of the proposed Kanaklata Barua University in Gohpur.
Dedicated to freedom fighter Kanaklata Barua, the university will focus on industry-oriented courses, including Artificial Intelligence, quantum computing, and robotics.
