DHSK College Celebrates 80th Foundation Day
Dibrugarh: DHSK College (Autonomous) celebrated its 80th Foundation Day today with a vibrant and thought-provoking programme. The event was inaugurated by Dibrugarh University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Jiten Hazarika, who in his address urged the academic community to embrace challenges as opportunities and remain devoted to creativity and achievement. The event featured a special talk by Dr. Sangeeta Gogoi, Director of Historical and Antiquarian Studies, who emphasized the importance of cultural tolerance. Speaking on “Mapping Connections with North East India and South East Asia: People-to-People Connections,” she stressed that knowledge extends beyond books and technology, highlighting the role of language and cultural identity in knowledge building. Dr. Gogoi presented visuals of cultural connections between India and Southeast Asian countries like Myanmar, Vietnam, China, and Thailand through elements such as the Ramayana, Mahabharata, and religious rituals. The day began with flag hoisting by GB President Abhimanyu Baruah and lamp lighting by Principal Dr. S.K. Saikia at the statue of founder Padmashree H.B. Kanoi. NCC cadets and Gayan-Bayan artists welcomed dignitaries in traditional Vaishnavite style. Retired Professor Dr. Bharati Dutta received the A.C. Choudhury Memorial Award, expressing gratitude for the recognition.
The college also witnessed the launch of Ankita Gupta’s first English poetry book, Love’s Grammar. The event was attended by former professors, staff, students, and dignitaries including Jyoti Prasad Kanoi, donor member of the governing body.
