Dr Hitesh Deka assumes office as the first VC of Nowgong University

Nagaon: Dr Hitesh Deka formally assumed office as the first vice-chancellor of Nowgong University, marking a glorious milestone in the journey from Nowgong College to Nowgong University. At the 'welcome and felicitation' ceremony, organized by Dr Bhuban Chandra Chutia, Coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Nowgong College, local MLA Rupak Sarma, attended the event as the chief guest. Sarma congratulated Dr Deka on his appointment and assured full cooperation for the development of Nowgong University. Dr Sarat Kumar Dutta, former President of the Nowgong College Governing Body, highlighted Dr Deka's academic and administrative experience. Dr Deka, in his first address as Vice-Chancellor, expressed gratitude and outlined his vision to develop Nowgong University as a center of education, research, regional relevance, and innovation. Dr Deka emphasized collective leadership and appealed to everyone to work together to take the university forward. He also announced that Dr Dhrubajyoti Baruah, Acting Principal of Nowgong College, would assume the role of acting Registrar of the university. The ceremony was attended by retired and current faculty members, well-wishers, alumni, current students, and non-teaching staff. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Prashanta Khanikar, Head of the Department of Education.
