Drama workshop undergoes at Khelmati High School

Tezpur: Like in the previous years this year too ‘Bahbari Kalaguru branch of Asam Natya Sanmilon’ is carrying on a 20 day long drama workshop at Khelmati High School for the school going students of the greater Bahbari-Bandarmari area. The event was formally launched on July 10 last by noted social worker, Secretary of Baan Theater, Jitumoni Deva Choudhury. In the brief function, among others, life member of Asam Natya Sanmilon, Ambu Ram Narzary, former Asstt. Headmaster of Khelmati High School, Nareswar Boro, social workers, Prasanna Kumar Rava and Kamal Nath, playwright Sidheswar Rava, President and secretary of ‘Bahbari Kalaguru Branch of Asam Natya Sanmilon’ Puspakanta Koch and Durlav Nath respectively and the two drama coaches engaged for the training programme namely Jitumoni Kalita and Bishnu Das were present. In his inaugural speech, Jitumoni Deva Choudhury spoke on how drama puts impact upon a person’s life. He also urged the students to try to learn properly the techniques, stage presence and performance skills etc. which would help them even to be socially responsible besides building their career. Earlier Amburam Narzary started the event by illuminating the ceremonial lamp. Around 50 students are participating in the 20 day long training programme. Simultaneously, with the rest of other branches of the largest drama platform in the region, Brajanath Sarma Branch also started a month-long workshop at Bihaguri area with the participation of 70 trainees.
