Diphu: In a historic milestone, Srishti Rongpipi has become the first Karbi scholar to be admitted to the University of Oxford, securing a place in its prestigious MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention and Policy Evaluation programme. Her achievement has sparked immense pride across the Karbi community and Northeast India.

The Oxford course, ranked #1 by Times Higher Education 2025, selects candidates through a globally competitive process. Srishti’s selection is a testament to her academic excellence, social commitment, and research experience.

Born to retired Wing Commander Prasanta Kumar Rongpi and Reema Teronpi, Srishti hails from Diphu. A former Best Athlete and high-achiever in school, she later graduated in Psychology from Jesus and Mary College, Delhi, and earned her Master of Public Policy from NLSIU, Bangalore, with distinction. She has since worked for four years in evidence-based development at Sambodhi Research and Communications.

Her father, Wg. Cdr. Rongpi, is also a trailblazer— the first Karbi to join Sainik School, NDA, and become an IAF pilot. He has been honoured with the Best Karpipo Award and Youth Icon Award.

Set to begin classes on October 6, Srishti’s admission is both a personal triumph and a powerful symbol for youth from tribal and underrepresented communities. Her journey reflects the power of perseverance, education, and community pride.

Srishti Rongpipi is Karbi pride personified.
