Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty join 'border 2'

Mumbai: Actors Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty have officially joined the cast of the highly anticipated film Border 2, starring alongside Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan. The announcement was marked with the release of a group photo from the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, where the current shooting schedule is underway. The image features the expanded star cast, signalling a major step forward in the film's production.

Producers Bhushan Kumar and Nidhi Dutta, director Anurag Singh, co-producer Shiv Chanana, and Binoy Gandhi were also present at the NDA shoot, capturing this key production moment. Border 2 is being developed as a sequel to the iconic 1997 war film Border, which portrayed the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. The original film, directed by JP Dutta, remains a landmark in Indian cinema for its patriotic narrative and stellar ensemble.

Building on that legacy, Border 2 aims to deliver a modern retelling of courage, sacrifice, and heroism, staying true to its roots while adding fresh cinematic energy. The inclusion of Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty signals the makers' intent to attract a broader audience by blending established and emerging talent.

Adding to the buzz, reports earlier this month confirmed that actress Sonam Bajwa will star opposite Dosanjh, marking their fourth on-screen collaboration. Their successful pairing in Punjabi cinema is expected to bring a compelling dynamic to the film’s narrative.

The production began earlier this year and is currently in full swing at the NDA. Filming is scheduled to conclude by mid-August, with a planned release date of January 23, 2026, just ahead of Republic Day. The strategic timing underscores the film’s patriotic core and is expected to resonate deeply with audiences.

With a strong cast, an experienced production team, and a commitment to honouring the legacy of Indian soldiers, Border 2 is shaping up to be both a tribute and a contemporary cinematic milestone. As anticipation builds, the film is poised to unite nostalgic fans of the original with a new generation of moviegoers.
