Mumbai: Bollywood actor and humanitarian Sonu Sood has been honoured with the prestigious Miss World Humanitarian Award, further cementing his legacy as a symbol of compassion and public service. The actor dedicated the award to the unsung heroes of India—mothers, struggling students, and resilient migrants—whose silent strength, he said, inspires him every day. Taking to Instagram, Sonu shared a heartfelt message along with photos of the award ceremony, where he was felicitated by actor Rana Daggubati. “This award belongs to every mother who prayed for a bus to take her child home, to every student who couldn’t afford education but never gave up dreaming, and to every migrant who walked miles yet never lost faith. Grateful and humbled to receive the Miss World Humanitarian Award. This is for every heart that cares,” Sood wrote. The actor rose to national prominence not just for his roles on screen, but for his selfless service during the COVID-19 pandemic, arranging transportation, food, and medical aid for thousands across India. His dedication to public welfare has earned him numerous accolades, including the SDG Special Humanitarian Action Award from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in 2020. Beyond his relief work, Sonu Sood runs the Sood Charity Foundation, which provides scholarships and educational support to underprivileged students. His initiatives, such as the Sonu Sood Scholarship, aim to bridge the gap between talent and opportunity for economically challenged youth. The actor also launched his production house Shakti Sagar Productions in 2016, named in honour of his father, and debuted his social media platform Explurger in 2022. Sonu Sood continues to inspire millions, proving that heroism transcends cinema and lies in service to humanity.
