Clashes Over Illegal Sand Mining Rock Dalgaon; Police Officers Injured

 Guwahati:Tension flared in Dalgaon's Shilbari sand quarry area of Darrang district after a violent clash broke out between alleged sand mafias and local residents over illegal sand mining operations in the Dhansiri River. The situation deteriorated further when police personnel, deployed to control the unrest, came under attack.The violence left Sub-Inspector Rupankar Das and three other officers injured. All four were quickly rushed to Mangaldoi Civil Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention. Following the incident, the district administration sent additional police forces, including the Additional Superintendent of Police, to the site to restore normalcy and monitor the situation closely.Officials have confirmed that the immediate threat has been contained. However, a massive search operation is now underway to track down those responsible for assaulting the police officers. Authorities have vowed to bring the attackers to justice swiftly.For years, local communities and social organizations have raised serious concerns over the rampant illegal sand mining along the Dhansiri River. They have repeatedly highlighted the environmental damage caused by unregulated quarrying, as well as the rise of criminal activities surrounding the trade.
