Bhutan Denounces Pahalgam Attack, Reaffirms Strong Support for India

 New Delhi:In a strong show of solidarity, the Bhutan India Friendship Association (BIFA) has condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of several innocent Indian tourists. The organization expressed deep grief and unwavering support for India during this tragic time.Addressing the media in Kokrajhar, BIFA Secretary General Dawa Penjor conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. He described the attack as a “barbaric act” that goes against the very essence of peace and humanity."India, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi and the values of non-violence, does not deserve to be subjected to such inhumane violence," Penjor said. He added that such heinous acts, reportedly orchestrated by Pakistan-based extremists, have no justification and must be universally condemned.On behalf of the Bhutanese government and its people, Penjor extended sincere sympathies to those affected by the tragedy. He emphasized Bhutan’s uncompromising position against terrorism in all its forms and its consistent advocacy for peace and mutual respect among nations."As Bhutanese citizens, we are deeply disturbed by the loss of innocent lives. Our nation has always stood for peace and coexistence, and we believe that such senseless violence should be eradicated from the world," he stated.Penjor also underlined the enduring friendship between Bhutan and India, noting that Bhutan remains committed to nurturing this bond through continued cooperation and shared values of peace, harmony, and development.The BIFA official urged the international community to take a united stand against terrorism and foster a global environment where such tragedies are no longer tolerated.This statement from Bhutan comes at a crucial time, reinforcing the shared regional commitment to peace and stability in South Asia.
