Dhak: The Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), student wing of the ruling Awami League, has strongly condemned recent controversial remarks allegedly made by an aide to Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus and by Yunus himself. The aide reportedly stated, “Bangladesh should occupy the Northeast states if India attacks Pakistan,” a comment that has sparked widespread outrage across both Bangladesh and India.Adding to the controversy, Muhammad Yunus, during a recent visit to China, reportedly referred to India’s northeastern states as “landlocked,” a statement perceived as diplomatically insensitive and strategically provocative. In an interview with India Today NE, Chhatra League President Saddam Hussain denounced both statements, calling them “irresponsible, reckless, and damaging to the region’s stability.” He went on to accuse the current interim government of being illegal and fascist, stating that such remarks “invite external interference in our sovereign matters.” Hussain further alleged that Yunus’s statements were part of a personal political agenda rather than national interest. When asked whether there was a possibility of Yunus stepping down, Hussain responded, “The people are against him and getting united day by day. Yunus must go, and democracy in Bangladesh must be restored. Without this, the country’s stability cannot be achieved.”He emphasized that the current interim government lacks neutrality, warning that discontent is rising across all sectors of society. “Whether it is primary school teachers, students, rickshaw-pullers, or any other group, everyone will protest.” Hussain said. The situation continues to develop amid increasing political tension, as opposition voices grow louder in demanding democratic restoration and accountability from the interim leadership.
