Manipur Intensifies Security Operations: Six Arrested, Major Seizures Made
Imphal:Manipur security forces have launched a series of coordinated operations across the state, arresting six individuals and seizing drugs, arms, and vehicles. The actions follow a gun salute incident in Saikul, with authorities registering an FIR and summoning local leaders. Five firearms and camouflage uniforms were confiscated. Among those arrested was Thianmuansiam Samte, caught with 5 kg of suspected brown sugar worth ₹48.7 crore. Others include insurgents from banned outfits UNLF and KCP (PWG) involved in extortion, and two individuals linked to a large ganja haul. Police also recovered stolen vehicles and targeted anti-social practices like tinted windows. The crackdown highlights the state’s tough approach against narcotics, insurgency, and organized crime.
