Lovlina to launch Boxing Academy in Guwahati on June 3
Guwahati: Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain is all set to launch the Lovlina Boxing Academy in Guwahati on June 3, a major initiative aimed at nurturing young boxing talent, particularly from Assam and the Northeast. The academy’s inauguration will be graced by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, marking the state’s strong backing for sports development in the region. “This academy is more than just a training facility—it's a dream realized,” said Borgohain. “I want to create a space where young boys and girls can not only learn boxing but also build the discipline and mental strength needed to excel.” Equipped with modern infrastructure and professional coaching, the academy will provide year-round training opportunities to aspiring athletes, with a special focus on underrepresented communities. The initiative comes just weeks after Borgohain’s gold-medal win at the 38th National Games, where she triumphed in the women’s 75kg category. It was her first competitive appearance since the Paris 2024 Olympics. Lovlina’s latest venture reinforces her growing role in athlete mentorship and grassroots sports development. Her academy is expected to be a key step in building a pipeline of national and international-level boxers from the region.
