Team Assam Gears Up for National Grappling Championship 2025
Guwahati: The Grappling Association of Assam has officially announced the final squad that will represent the state at the 18th GFI National Grappling Championship 2025. The championship is scheduled to take place in Nashik, Maharashtra, from May 30 to June 1. The team was selected following a competitive series of state-level trials conducted under the guidelines of the Grappling Federation of India. These trials showcased the growing talent pool in the state and highlighted the dedication of athletes striving for national recognition. The selected grapplers will compete in both GI and No-GI categories, representing Assam on one of the most prestigious platforms in Indian grappling. Leading the squad are some of the state's most promising athletes across multiple weight categories. The team’s preparation has been guided by experienced coach Mukut Das, who has been instrumental in shaping the fighters’ strategies and performance ahead of the nationals. Nur Alom Sarkar, General Secretary of the Grappling Association of Assam, extended heartfelt congratulations to all selected players. He expressed confidence in the team's capabilities and conveyed hope that their performance would bring accolades to the state. President Mithun Ghosh, along with Advisor Samar Deka and Mustaqe Uddin Ahmed, also congratulated the athletes. They encouraged the team to uphold the values of sportsmanship, discipline, and perseverance. The leadership emphasized that Assam has consistently shown promise in national-level competitions and that this year’s contingent is well-positioned to continue that legacy. As the countdown to the championship begins, the Grappling Association of Assam has extended its best wishes to the entire squad for a successful and injury-free tournament.
