Manipur BJP MLA Thongam Biswajit engages with IDPs
Imphal: In a moving display of solidarity and compassion, former Agriculture and Power Minister and BJP MLA Thongam Biswajit has been actively engaging with Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) residing in relief camps across Manipur. His efforts aim to uplift the morale and well-being of those displaced by the ongoing conflict in the state. On July 6, Biswajit visited several camps, spending quality time with youth and students, and listening closely to their concerns — from interrupted education to economic hardships. His empathetic interactions and assurance of actionable support were met with appreciation from the young residents, who voiced their aspirations for a stable and hopeful future. The following day, Biswajit joined the IDP community in celebrating the sacred Kang (Rath Yatra) Festival at Shree Shree Govindajee Temple. The celebration included a special Darshan and Prasad Seva shared with displaced families. As a mark of dignity and inclusion, Biswajit distributed traditional Dhoti and Kurta attire to the men, enabling them to participate fully in the festivities alongside their loved ones. Beyond cultural and emotional outreach, Biswajit also focused on practical assistance. He assured the IDPs of the upcoming completion of a Community Hall — a much-needed shared space for interaction and development. In a significant move toward economic empowerment, he committed to providing financial assistance for handloom weaving machines, supporting local artisans and promoting sustainable livelihoods. His outreach has not only rekindled a sense of community among the displaced but also reaffirmed the importance of empathetic leadership during times of crisis.
