Shillong: The Meghalaya Special Investigation Team (SIT) is set to reconstruct the crime scene related to the murder of Raja Raghuvanshi, a case that has triggered national outrage and mounting demands for justice. The reconstruction will be carried out at a parking lot in Sohra, where the brutal killing allegedly took place. The accused — Sonam Raghuvanshi (Raja’s wife), Raj Kushwaha, Akash, Vishal, and Anand — will be present during the exercise. Investigators have recovered a sharp-edged weapon, reportedly bought in Guwahati, believed to have been used in the crime. “We have recovered a sharp weapon which had been purchased by the accused from Guwahati to commit the murder,” a senior police official confirmed. East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem stated that police are working to file the chargesheet within the stipulated legal timeframe. Meanwhile, scrutiny around Sonam's role has intensified, with Raja’s family raising serious doubts about her account of events. Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, publicly alleged that Sonam and Raj are misleading investigators and demanded a narco test. Another brother, Sachin Raghuvanshi, led a candlelight march in Indore, vowing to pursue justice. The case has also drawn political attention. Meghalaya BJP President Rikman G Momin defended the state’s image, lauding police efforts and urging critics to avoid tarnishing Meghalaya’s reputation. As the probe advances, public pressure continues to grow for accountability and a transparent investigation.
