Gangtok: As water levels rise due to ongoing heavy rainfall in the Singtam region, Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur conducted an inspection of the Indreni Bridge on Tuesday to assess flood risks and state preparedness. Accompanied by Commissioner-cum-Secretary Jitendra Singh Raje and other officials, the Governor met with Singtam Nagar Panchayat members, local authorities, and residents to understand the situation on the ground. While conditions are not yet critical, the increasing river flow has prompted precautionary measures. Governor Mathur emphasized, “The focus must be on preparedness. Early action and public awareness are crucial to preventing any loss.” He called for strong coordination among departments and urged local agencies to monitor the situation closely. Residents in low-lying areas were advised to stay alert and adhere to official safety advisories.
