DC Vishakha Yadav launches monsoon health drive in Papum Pare

Itanagar: In a proactive move to tackle seasonal health challenges, newly appointed Papum Pare Deputy Commissioner Vishakha Yadav, IAS, chaired her first District-Level Steering Committee meeting for the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign 2025 on Thursday. The session, held at the DC’s Conference Hall in Yupia, brought together key officials from the Health, PHED, Education, and Women & Child Development departments to formulate an integrated response to diarrhoeal outbreaks, which typically rise during the monsoon. Emphasising the need for vigilance and teamwork, DC Yadav called for seamless coordination across departments.
“We must function as a cohesive unit to raise the district’s health standards,” she said, assuring full administrative support to resolve infrastructure and service delivery hurdles. District Medical Officer Dr. Reena Ronya provided an overview of ongoing health initiatives, including routine immunisation, non-communicable disease (NCD) management, the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, and the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP). Further outlining the district’s action plan, Dr. Taniya Raju, ASHA Nodal Officer, presented the core objectives of the Stop Diarrhoea Campaign. These include eliminating child deaths due to diarrhoea, increasing awareness of ORS and Zinc use, promoting hygiene and sanitation, and ensuring safe drinking water for all. With the monsoon season approaching, the district administration, under Yadav’s leadership, has set a determined tone to strengthen public health preparedness and reduce preventable child mortality.
