10 day long workshop on theatre underway at Karayani Bargoyan Somaj in Nagaon

Nagaon: Bijay Shankar Saikia Memorial Drama Workshop began at the Karayani Bordunga field in Nagaon on Monday last here. The workshop, organized by Jyoti Shilpa and supported by the Kolongpariya Bargoyan Somaj, will run for 10 days and is open to students of all ages. The workshop aims to promote theater and drama among children and young adults. The participants will be divided into two groups as one for students under 14 years of age and another for students above 14 years. At the end of the workshop, the students will perform two plays at the Nagaon district library auditorium. The workshop was ceremonially inaugurated by Dr Jahannara Begum, a doctor and actress from Tezpur. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of theater and drama in shaping the character of children. She said that if children are attracted to theater and drama, they will develop a sense of social responsibility and become better individuals. The workshop is being held at the Karayani Bordunga field, which is a historic site and a temple belonging to the Karayani Bargoyan Smaj. The hall of the temple is being used for the workshop. During the inauguration ceremony, several dignitaries, including Dr Paran Goswami and Nirupam Koch, paid tribute to Bijay Shankar Saikia, a noted theater personality. The ceremony also featured a speech by Dehiram Bora, a former advocate, who emphasized the importance of art and culture in our lives. Scribe of a satellite TV channel of greater Karayani areas, Biren Bora mentored the inaugural session of the workshop.
