ADG BSF (Eastern Command) reviews Security Preparedness in Assam

Guwahati: Mahesh Kumar Agrawal, IPS, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Border Security Force (BSF), Eastern Command, Kolkata, visited the BSF Guwahati Frontier to assess the operational preparedness and current security scenario along the India-Bangladesh international border. During his visit, ADG Agrawal was briefed by Inspector General Sukhdev Raj and senior staff officers on the security arrangements in place. The discussions included a detailed review of the emerging challenges posed by unrest in Bangladesh and the ongoing efforts to curb cross-border crimes. On May 13, the ADG held a high-level meeting with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, where key matters related to border security were deliberated. Chief Minister Sarma praised the BSF’s exemplary work in safeguarding the Indo-Bangladesh border in Assam. Later, ADG Agrawal also met with Harmeet Singh, IPS, Director General of Assam Police, to discuss the prevailing security dynamics along the international boundary. Highlighting the critical nature of border vigilance, Agrawal interacted with BSF personnel during the "Prahari Sammelan" at the Frontier Headquarters in Guwahati. He commended the troops for their dedication and effective control of the border areas. Drawing attention to the evolving situation in Bangladesh and broader regional concerns, including the India-Pakistan border, the ADG stressed the importance of maintaining heightened alertness to swiftly respond to any emerging threats. The visit underscores the BSF’s continued commitment to national security and inter-agency cooperation in addressing complex border management challenges.
