AJYCP submits memo to CM in Biswanath

Biswanath Chariali: The Biswanath district committee of Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) today submitted a memorandum to the chief minister of Assam through the district commissioner of Biswanath demanding immediate functioning of all the irrigation systems located in the district and to make substitute source of water for the farmer in the district for seedling transplantation. It is to be mentioned here that due to the scarcity of the natural rain in the district, many farmers have not started their seedling transplantation works. The peak season of paddy transplantation is about to be over. Till the date today, the farmers of Biswanath district have to wait for the natural rain. But the state government has exhausted crores of rupees in the name of water lifting projects and irrigation department. The irrigation department and water lifting projects have turned into white elephants at present. The AJYCP Biswanath district committee has demanded ex-gratia for the victim farmers and financial support from the state government. As per the direction of the state committee of the AJYCP, the Biswanath district committee submitted the memorandum to the chief minister of Assam through the district commissioner. The memorandum was submitted by Diganta Barua, district president, Kamaljit Dutta, state joint secretary, Nasir Ahmed, central executive member, Nirmal Das and Priyanku Deka, district joint secretaries among others.
