AKA appeals for land allotment for World-Class Martial Arts complex

Guwahati: Biswajit Kakati, the founder of the Assam Kickboxing Association (AKA) and the pioneer behind introducing WAKO Kickboxing in the state, has made a formal appeal to the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, seeking the allotment of a vacant plot of land for the construction of a state-of-the-art, multifaceted Martial Arts Complex in Guwahati. The proposed site—measuring 12 Bighas, 3 Kathas, and 8 Lessas, located at Dag No. 102 of Durgasorubar village (Ading Giri Tila) under Jalukbari Mouza—was recently surveyed and demarcated through a joint effort involving the Land Revenue staff of Guwahati Revenue Circle, the PWD Building Department, and representatives of the AKA. The use of DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) technology ensured precision in mapping the land for the project. In his appeal, Kakati emphasized the visionary goal of building a scientific, fully-equipped, world-class martial arts complex that integrates multiple disciplines under one umbrella. This ambitious project, pegged at an estimated cost of ₹65 crores, aims to serve as a long-term infrastructure initiative not just for Assam but for the entire Northeast region. “The complex will uphold the ideals and values of Asia’s ancient martial arts through both theory and practice, emphasizing systematic instruction, discipline, and philosophy,” Kakati stated. He added that the facility would not only cater to athletes but also promote the cultural heritage and legacy of traditional martial arts across the region. The project envisions hosting national and international level martial arts training, events, and research, and aims to position Assam as a key hub for martial arts education and excellence in India. Kakati’s proposal now awaits consideration from the state government, and the martial arts community of Assam is hopeful for a positive response that could transform the region’s sporting landscape.
