Awareness meet held at Nagsankar

Biswanath Chariali: A public awareness meeting convened by Nagsankar Development Committee was held at Nagsankar Natya Mancha yesterday with Jyoti Hazarika in the chair. At the very outset Kokheswar Das, secretary of the development committee explained the objectives of the meeting. The public meeting was organized to make people aware about the on-going anti-social activities that added fuel to the speedy rise of anti-social acts in the greater Naduar area. Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika attended the awareness programme as a chief guest. Addressing the gathering, MLA Hazarika warned the anti-social elements to keep distance from the works and activities which hamper the peaceful environment. He also asked the public to put their hands and efforts together against such anti-social activities. The awareness meeting of today was addressed by the Circle Officer of Naduar revenue circle officer, Pradip Saikia, Bhaba Saikia, Nirmali Saikia, Putul Bora, Lochan Bora, Anjan Baskota. It is pertinent to mention here that four pairs of college students were recovered from Maa dhaba located in the entrance of the historic Nagsanakr Mandir on June 17 in an objectionable condition by a team of Sootea police. The police team along with owner of dhaba Hemanta Mech apprehended them. On the other hand, the police team apprehended one Ritumani Saikia Nath from LB road, Sootea against the charges of running a brothel in her residence on Monday night.
