Gossaigaon: In a powerful reaffirmation of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) government's commitment to inclusive governance and social justice, Executive Member of BTR, Ranjit Basumatary- widely known as Ferenga Basumatary, declared that “as long as the Pramod Boro-led administration remains in power, no eviction will take place in BTR.” He made these resolute remarks while addressing an impressive gathering of over ten thousand people at a beneficiary convention and socio-economic awareness meeting organized by the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) in Amlaiguri, under 4 No. Jamduar BTC constituency. Speaking on the occasion, EM Basumatary launched a scathing critique of the previous 17-year-long regime under former BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary stating that during that period, the Bodoland region witnessed deep-rooted disorder, social disintegration, and systematic fragmentation of communities, which culminated in widespread political instability and communal disharmony. In those days, the people of BTC lived in fear, division, and uncertainty. Peace was a distant dream, and unity among communities was systematically dismantled, -Basumatary emphasized. Contrasting this with the current administration, he lauded the transformative governance ushered in by Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro following the formation of the new government on November 20, 2020. Under the leadership of Boro and the UPPL-led coalition, he affirmed, permanent peace and harmony have been restored across the BTR. The present government has embraced all 26 indigenous communities and brought together 3.5 million citizens under one democratic umbrella. This is not merely governance—it is the foundation of a new social contract built on equity, respect, and unity, he proclaimed. EM Basumatary highlighted the government's proactive initiatives to safeguard and promote the languages, cultures, customs, and traditions of every community within the BTR. Comprehensive documentation efforts have been launched to preserve the region’s rich and diverse cultural heritage, ensuring that no community is left behind. On the other hand, gracing the event Jamduar MCLA Reoreoa Narzihary, Gossaigaon MLA Jiron Basumatary, and Sidli MCLA Madhab Chetry, along with several senior leaders and grassroots workers of the UPPL. Their presence reinforced the party’s unwavering commitment to people-centric policies and inclusive development. The convention, marked by spirited participation and vibrant cultural expression, served not only as a platform for political dialogue but also as a testament to the UPPL government’s resolve to build a just, inclusive, and peaceful Bodoland.
