Body of a teenage girl found near NMCH

Nagaon: A body of a 12 - 13 years old girl was found near the Nagaon Medical College Hospital in Nagaon town last night here. The body was witnessed by locals on the side of the Nagaon - Naltoli State Highway near the Diphalu Shiv Mandir Tiniali. The locals informed the Nagaon Town Itachali Police Outpost, and the police arrived at the scene to recover the body. The body was sent to the Nagaon Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem examination. According to locals, the girl was wearing a frock, and there were visible injuries on her face and neck. They suspected that the girl might have been abducted, raped, and then murdered. The girl's parents identified the body at the Nagaon Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Pinky Das, a resident of Dighaldari village under the Raha Police Station in Nagaon district. She had gone missing on June 11 in the evening. According to local sources and family members, the girl had been in touch with a young man who worked as a mason in their village. The mason is reportedly a Muslim youth from Nagaon town. The Nagaon police have started an investigation into the incident.
