Gossaigaon: As the elections for the BTR approach, the political dynamics in the area are experiencing a considerable change, with all major parties ramping up their efforts to connect with grassroots-level voters. The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) seems to have achieved notable success in the 3 No. Srirampur BTC Constituency. In a major political development, a total of 71 individuals, both men and women, formally resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) and occasionally joined the BPF party at a public meeting organized in Simultapu under the 3 No. Srirampur constituency. The meeting was hosted by the Minority Cell of the Srirampur Block BPF, led by its president Mujahidul Ahmed. The event was graced by Rafiqul Islam, BPF Central Organizational Secretary, who delivered a scathing address against the current leadership of the UPPL-led BTR Government. Targeting the sitting representative of Srirampur, Sajal Kumar Singha, Rafiqul Islam remarked that the current MLA has utterly failed to deliver on the expectations and aspirations of the people. His leadership has been marred by financial misappropriation and betrayal of public trust. With elections approaching, he is likely to resort to monetary inducements to manipulate voters. Rafiqul Islam further assured the gathering that BPF will form the next BTC government before Durga Puja, and under its leadership, developmental work will resume at full speed. Advocate Mafizur Rahman, while addressing the gathering, launched a strong critique of the UPPL-led government. Despite repeated assurances, the erosion caused by the Sonkosh River in Simultapu remains unaddressed. Several roads and bridges are in a dilapidated state, causing daily hardship for the local populace. The government has failed to initiate any effective action to resolve these pressing issues, Rahman stated. Adding to this, Srirampur Block BPF President and advocate Mokhlesur Rahman avowed that If the BPF returns to power, addressing the erosion problem of the Sonkosh River will be treated as a top priority. This long-neglected issue can no longer be side-lined. The event witnessed the presence of key BPF leaders, including Rafiqul Islam Bhuiya, Secretary of the Gossaigaon District BPF Committee, and Akhtar Hussain, President of the Simultapu Primary Committee, along with hundreds of supporters and local residents.
