BTC CEM releases multilingual word book

KOKRAJHAR:The Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Pramod Boro, ceremonially released the Multilingual Word Book yesterday at the Bodofa Cultural Complex in Kokrajhar. This unique publication presents translations of 1,000 essential English words used in daily life into nine languages spoken across the region — Bodo, Dimasa, Santal, Zeme Naga, Hmar, Karbi, Hindi, Assamese, and Bengali.The book is an initiative of the Bodoland Territorial Council and has been published by the Department of Information and Public Relations, BTC.

Speaking on the occasion, CEM Pramod Boro stated that this initiative reflects BTC’s unwavering commitment to fostering communication, unity, and mutual understanding among the diverse communities of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). He emphasized that the Multilingual Word Book will serve as a vital bridge connecting the communities residing in the Sixth Schedule Councils — BTR, Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao.He also announced that under the Vision Document programme of the Government of BTR, a second volume of the Multilingual Word Book will be published in the first half of the current financial year. This upcoming volume will cover all remaining communities of the region.The book release programme was attended by the Speaker of the BTC Legislative Assembly, Katiram Boro, Deputy CEM of the Bodo Kachari Welfare Autonomous Council Romio P Narzary, several MCLAs, and community leaders representing 26 communities of BTR.It is worth noting that the Multilingual Word Book has been edited by the CHD of BTC IPRD Zahid Ahmed Tapadar. The translations of English words into the respective languages were done by AnthaoMuchahary (Bodo), Purnima Hakmaosa (Dimasa), Jhongol Mardi and Binoy Kumar Tudu (Santal), PauramduingJeme and WangneikambeJeme (Zeme Naga), Dr. Ananta Kumar Rabha (Rabha), MojariRonghi (Karbi), Mustafa Hussain Ansari (Hindi), and Shabana Rahman Chaudhury (Assamese).
