Cachar Dist Admin felicitates artists with artists pension and Barxik Silpi Sanman

Silchar: In a dignified ceremony celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage, the Cachar District Administration on Friday honoured four eminent artists with Artist Pensions and the prestigious Barxik Silpi Sanman for the financial year 2024–25. The event, held at the District Commissioner’s office, brought together the custodians of culture and the torchbearers of local art under one roof. District Commissioner of Cachar, Mridul Yadav, IAS, personally handed over the certificates to the recipients in the presence of Assistant Commissioner cum in charge DDIPR Barak valley Zone Silchar Assam and Branch Officer (Cultural), Deepa Das, ACS; Cultural Development Officer, Snehangshu Shekhar Roy; and Assistant Nazir, Bikash Dutta. This year’s honourees include Rabindra Lal Roy, who received the Artist Pension (Regular), and Nripen Kumar Das, Nandini Chakraborty, and Bimalendu Sinha, each awarded the Barxik Silpi Sanman. The gesture stands as a testament to the district’s continued commitment to recognising and supporting the artists who keep the flame of traditional and contemporary culture alive. Speaking at the occasion, DC, Mridul Yadav highlighted the invaluable contributions of these artists to society, noting that their work not only preserves the cultural identity of Cachar but also inspires younger generations to embrace and enrich the arts. The ceremony, marked by warmth and respect, reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to promote the arts and honour those who dedicate their lives to creative expression.
