Cachar Prepares for Health Campaigns with Convergence Meet

Silchar: The Cachar District Health Department held a district-level convergence meeting on Monday to gear up for the upcoming ‘World Population Fortnight 2025’, ‘Stop Diarrhoea Campaign’, and Japanese Encephalitis (JE) preparedness. The meeting brought together officials from various government departments, NHM units, private hospitals, and allied agencies. Key attendees included Smt. Deepa Das, ACS; Dr. Shibananda Roy, Joint Director of Health Services; and Dr. Moinal Haque Barbhuiya, Addl. Chief Medical & Health Officer, among others. As part of World Population Day observance on July 11, family planning service camps will be held offering sterilization, IUCDs, Antara injections, and counseling to promote population stabilization. The Stop Diarrhoea Campaign will run through July-August, targeting under-five children with ORS distribution and caregiver training by ASHA workers. Dr. Ratna Chakroborty announced the launch of ‘TB Mukta Bharat’ from July 1, including mass screenings and free treatment for TB. One confirmed JE death was reported, prompting directives for all facilities to report fever cases promptly and initiate JE testing. The meeting also reviewed the Wage Compensation Scheme for tea workers, PMJAY e-KYC, and NQAS health facility certification plans, marking a unified push to strengthen public health in Cachar.
