Five-Day Sattriya Dance Workshop Begins at Shantipriya L.P. School

Guwahati: A five-day Sattriya Dance Workshop commenced today at Shantipriya L.P. School, located in Krishna Nagar, Chandmari, aiming to promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Assam through classical dance. The workshop was formally inaugurated by Mahesh Chandra Bora, President of Arun Vikas Foundation, in a ceremony that witnessed participation from eminent personalities. The inaugural meeting was chaired by the Foundation's General Secretary, Moloy Barthakur, who emphasized the importance of encouraging young minds to connect with traditional art forms. Prominent figures who graced the event as distinguished guest speakers included Dr. Arati Kalita, retired Principal of Maligaon Central School, Colonel Rabindra Kumar Das, and Nabin Chandra Bora, Councillor of Krishna Nagar. Each of them spoke on the cultural significance of Sattriya dance and the need for community participation in preserving indigenous traditions. The workshop is being conducted by renowned Sattriya exponent and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar National Award winner, Pankaj Baruah, who is known for his efforts in popularizing this classical dance form across India. Organized under the aegis of Arun Vikas Foundation, the initiative is expected to benefit numerous young learners and enthusiasts over the coming days.
