Gauripur Police Nab Two Suspected Narcotics Suppliers

Dhubri: In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, Gauripur police arrested two suspected drug suppliers during a high-stakes raid conducted at Khudimari Part-I village. The operation marks a major breakthrough in the region’s ongoing fight against narcotics. Acting on a credible tip-off, a police team raided the residence of Samar Sharma, a local resident of Khudimari. During the search, authorities recovered a cache of suspicious items including one airgun, a 5.56 mm ammunition container, a pistol described as “Mouser-like” and reportedly used for bird hunting, along with three mobile phones suspected to have been used for illicit communication. The police promptly apprehended two individuals at the scene: Samar Sharma of Khudimari and Suraj Prasad of Jhagrapar. Preliminary investigations indicate that the duo may be linked to a broader narcotics distribution network operating in the region. Both accused have been taken into custody and are currently being interrogated at the Gauripur Police Station. Authorities have assured that a comprehensive investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the drug racket and identify additional suspects involved in the illicit trade. “This operation is part of our sustained crackdown on narcotics and illegal arms in the district,” a senior police official said. “We are committed to rooting out these networks and ensuring the safety and well-being of our communities.” The arrest has sparked hope among local residents who have long expressed concern over the rising influence of drugs in the area. Further developments are expected as the investigation unfolds.
