GM, NFR (Construction) Inspects Araria-Galgalia BG Line

Guwahati: The General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR)/Construction, Arun Kumar Chaudhary, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the Araria-Galgalia New Broad Gauge (BG) Line railway project on June 16. The inspection covered the newly laid line between Araria and Thakurganj in Katihar Division, Bihar of NFR. Hon’ble Member of Parliament from Araria, Shri Pradeep Kumar Singh, along with other senior officials of NFR, was present during the inspection. As part of the inspection, a high-speed trial run was successfully conducted at 120 kmph, showcasing the readiness and quality of the newly laid track. The Araria-Galgalia BG Line project, spanning 110.75 kilometers from Araria Court to Thakurganj, is a significant initiative aimed at boosting railway connectivity and operational efficiency in Bihar and adjoining regions, which is scheduled for completion within 2025. During the window trailing inspection, the General Manager reviewed the progress of infrastructure works of the complete project. The sections from Araria–Araria Court–Rahamatpur (8.24 km) and Pawakhali–Thakurganj (23.24 km) were already commissioned in April and November 2024, respectively. The remaining section between Rahamatpur–Pawakhali (79.27 km) now awaits commissioning that will complete the entire project. The project involves the construction of 64 major bridges, 264 minor bridges and 15 railway stations, reflecting the scale and complexity of the engineering works undertaken. These structures form the backbone of the corridor, ensuring seamless connectivity and operational safety across the entire route. This railway line is expected to act as a crucial transportation link, connecting remote and underserved areas of Bihar to the national railway grid. It is set to catalyze regional development by facilitating smoother passenger and freight movement, encouraging tourism and supporting trade activities. Moreover, it holds strategic importance for enhancing cross-border connectivity with Nepal. NFR remains committed towards completing this transformative project on schedule while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety.
