Guardian Minister Pijush Hazarika Chairs Review Meeting at Sonitpur

Tezpur: Assam's Minister of Water Resources, Information & Public Relations, and Guardian Minister for Sonitpur district, Pijush Hazarika, chaired a review meeting at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Sonitpur on Monday which focused on the implementation of three major welfare schemes — Orunodoi 3.0, Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Assam, and the Women Entrepreneurship Mission. The meeting included detailed discussions in the presence of MLA of Tezpur Prithiraj Rabha, MLA of Rangapara Krishna Kamal Tanti , MLA of Barchala Ganesh Kumar Limbu and concerned officials of the district administration. Addressing the attending MLAs, administrative officers, and members of the District Monitoring Committee formed for implementing these schemes, Minister Hazarika stressed that it must be ensured the benefits of these schemes reach all eligible individuals across all strata of society, and that no rightful beneficiary is left out. Minister Hazarika emphasized the commitment of the state government under Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma’s leadership to public welfare and instructed the District Commissioner to ensure vigilant monitoring and timely completion of all tasks related to the implementation of the schemes. Later, the Water Resources Minister visited Balipara in the district to inspect the ongoing erosion prevention and embankment strengthening works of the Jarasar River. The Jarasar River has caused massive erosion and frequent flooding due to overflow over embankments in the Dighali Balijan village of Balipara in Naduar constituency and to resolve the issue of erosion and flooding in the area, the Water Resources Department has been actively engaged in mitigation works. The Minister today visited the area and took stock of the situation from local residents. During his visit Minister Hazarika was accompanied by MLA of Naduar Padma Hazarika and MLA of Rangapara Krishna Kamal Tanti. It is worth mentioning that the water resource department is currently executing works involving the installation of approximately 1,200 meters of Geo Mega Tubes to heighten and strengthen the embankment. During his visit to the spot , Minister Hazarika also informed the people of the locality that the use of Geo Mega Tubes has significantly enhanced the strength of the protection works, and the threat of future erosion and flooding in the area has now been considerably reduced.
