Hojai Dist Admin promptness, preserves communal harmony

Hojai: Hojai District Administration's promptness preserves communal harmony from deteriorating at Borpukhuri and Bhuyan Party area in Hojai on Sunday. Notably, District Commissioner Bidyut Bikash Bhagwati accompanied with Superintendent of Police Saurab Gupta, Local Legislator Ramkrishna Ghosh and other officers successfully calmed the communal tension between two communities through negotiations and appealed everyone to maintain peace and harmony. Simultaneously, the local residents at Borpukhuri apprised the administration about their problems by submitting a memorandum. While interacting with media, Hojai District Commissioner Bidyut Bikash Bhagwati said District Administration is always working to maintain mutual brotherhood in the district and also appeals to the denizens of Hojai district to contribute in the development of the district by maintaining mutual harmony, tranquility and peace. He further said that it was unfortunate that on a holy day of Eid Ul Zuha, some anti-social elements tried to spoil the mutual harmony by dumping banned meat (beef) around the temples in Borpukhuri area and making the situation tense. He said that We have interacted with the local people and they have submitted a memorandum and apprised us about their problems in detail. "The situation has been resolved peacefully.", DC added. The District Commissioner said that local residents demanded a police patrolling outpost and street lights in the area and strict steps should be taken to prevent such incidents again. The District Commissioner assured that the above problems will be resolved after a discussion with the government. At the same time, whatever problem should be solved by the District Administration at the local level will be solved immediately, he added. As per information, on the day of Eid Ul Zuha on saturday evening, the situation became tense in Borpukhuri area in Hojai due to the dumping of beef by some anti-social elements around the hindu religious places. Sensing the seriousness of the situation, the Hojai police administration showed promptness and pacified both sides. Reportedly, on Sunday morning again such incident happened, reacting to it the Hindu community at Borpukhuri region blocked the road and protested vehemently against the dumping of banned meat with slogans like Gau Hatya bandh karo (Stop Cow Slaughter), Jai Shri Ram. On the other hand, reacting to the protest, people of the other side also expressed their protest by blocking the road towards Bhuyanpatty. However, as the situation going out of control, Hojai police had to resort to mild lathi charge to disperse the crowd in the Bhuyan Patty area. During the protest, Hojai Police arrested one Amir Hussain from Bhuyanpatty. Further investigation is going on. On the other hand, IGP Akhilesh Kumar Singh also visited the spot at Borpukhuri area. While interacting with the media, he said,"We are rigorously investigating the matter to apprehend the culprits. And, after detailed inquiry only anythink can be said." He assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits. He also said for the time being there will be Police Patrolling and after discussion with the government we will set up a permanent Police Patrol Outpost.
