India Slams Pakistan at UN, Demands Global Crackdown After Pahalgam Terror Attack

New Delhi:In a forceful statement at the United Nations, India brought global attention to the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, directly blaming Pakistan for fueling cross-border terrorism and destabilizing South Asia. The brutal assault, which left 26 civilians—mostly tourists—dead, is being called Kashmir’s deadliest terror incident since the 2019 Pulwama attack.Speaking during the launch of the Victims of Terrorism Association Network in New York, India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Yojna Patel, delivered a sharp rebuke against Pakistan. While refraining from naming Pakistan outright, Patel criticized the neighboring country's delegation for peddling false narratives and unfounded accusations against India.Patel underscored India’s status as a "victim of sustained cross-border terrorism," referencing a recent televised admission by Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khwaja Asif. In the interview, Asif acknowledged Pakistan’s history of supporting, training, and financing terror outfits."The Defence Minister of Pakistan himself has admitted to their active role in fostering terrorism," Patel asserted, invoking India’s Right of Reply. She branded Pakistan a "rogue state" and warned the international community against ignoring its actions any longer.Earlier, the United Nations Security Council had strongly denounced the Pahalgam attack, calling for swift justice against those responsible. The Council emphasized that all nations must fully cooperate under international law to bring terrorists, financiers, and sponsors to account. The attack unfolded on April 22, when gunmen opened fire on unarmed tourists at the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam. The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of the banned Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), later claimed responsibility. In response, India announced a series of tough diplomatic and security measures. It suspended the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, halted overland trade with Pakistan through the Attari border crossing, and revoked the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme for Pakistani citizens. Pakistanis already in India were ordered to leave within 40 hours.Patel concluded her remarks by urging the world to "stand united against terrorism" and "hold sponsors of terror accountable without delay."
