Karbi women stage protest demanding justice for Namrata Ingtipi

Nagaon: Women from various parts of Karbi Anglong district gathered at Nagaon to protest and demand justice for the murder of Nomrata Ingtipi today here. The protesters, led by the United Forum of Women of Karbi Anglong, held a silent march from the Clock Tower to the District Commissioner's office. During the stir, the agitators carried placards with slogans such as "Justice for Nomrata's murder", "We want justice", "Hang the killer", and "Judicial inquiry into Nomrata's murder". They demanded that the accused, Saddam Hussain, be given the death penalty and that a judicial inquiry be conducted into the case. The protesters alleged that the Nagaon police's initial handling of the case was questionable, particularly in relation to the identification of the victim's body. They criticized the police for allowing the Raha family to cremate a body that did not belong to them. The protesters also accused the government and police of failing to ensure the safety of women and girls. They submitted a memorandum to the Nagaon District Commissioner demanding justice for Nomrata Ingtipi's murder and the death penalty for the accused. It is worth noting that the Nagaon Karbi Students' Union had also held a protest in Nagaon yesterday with similar demands.
