Man dies in Juria after alleged assault by journalists

Nagaon: A chilling murder has sent shockwaves through Juria in Assam’s Nagaon district, after an alleged altercation between two groups ended in the death of a local resident, Abdul Rahim. The case has taken a sensational twist with accusations leveled against several portal journalists and a reporter from a satellite news channel. According to sources, the incident originated from a late-night confrontation on Wednesday at Juria Bazaar between portal journalist Ashfikur Rahman and Abdul Rahim of Kadamoni Pathar village, along with his family members. The disagreement escalated into a violent clash, the cause of which remains unclear. On Thursday, Rahman filed an assault complaint against Rahim’s family. However, tension soared on Friday when Abdul Rahim was found dead under mysterious circumstances. In a shocking statement, Rahim’s wife alleged that Rahman and his associates had brutally attacked her husband and later obstructed medical aid. She further accused satellite TV journalist Fazlul Haque and other portal reporters of threatening the family into silence. The Juria Police have registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Case No. 202/2025) under Sections 103(1), 351(2), and 3(5). Rahim’s body has been sent for post-mortem in Nagaon. A detailed investigation is ongoing as authorities seek witness accounts and medical evidence to uncover the truth behind the tragedy.
