Guwahati: Miles Bronson Residential School (MBRS), Borjhar, Guwahati, one of Northeast India's leading boarding institutions, proudly hosted the prestigious IPSC Literary Festival from July 14 to 16. The vibrant three-day celebration of language, literature, and culture was held across the AnuChandra Auditorium and the Multi-Sports Complex of the school. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Nripen Kumar Dutta, Founder and Principal of MBRS, who welcomed teams from top IPSC member schools across the country. In his inaugural speech, Dr. Dutta paid tribute to cultural luminaries such as Rupkonwar Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, Padma Bhushan Syed Abdul Malik, Ekhud Kokaideu Nabakanta Barua, Sudhakontha Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, and the legendary missionary-lexicographer Miles Bronson. He emphasized the transformative power of creativity and its role in shaping children into socially responsible, culturally rooted individuals. The festival featured a rich array of literary activities including multi-format English and Hindi debates, “Living Newspaper” performances, quiz competitions, spoken word presentations, creative text writing, Sanskrit and Hindi Shlok Gaayan, and even a heritage walk to connect participants with local culture. The Closing and Award Ceremony on July 16 was graced by noted senior journalist Digjyoti Lahkar, who presented awards to the top-performing schools. Prize-winning institutions included Mayo College Girls’ School (Ajmer), Daly College and The Emerald Heights (Indore), Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya (Gwalior), L.K. Singhania Education Centre (Gotan), MBRS (Guwahati), and The Assam Valley School (Balipara). The festival concluded with a renewed spirit of literary camaraderie and cultural pride among India’s brightest young minds.
