Nagaon: A general meeting of the Assam Chamber of Commerce was held at the prestigious Rishiraj Hotel in Nagaon town today. The meeting was chaired by Rupam Goswami, President of the Assam Chamber of Commerce, and attended by Rupak Sarma, MLA of Nagaon-Batadroba, as the chief guest. In his address, MLA Sarma emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and business in solving unemployment problems. He noted that with the changing times, jobs are now based on merit, and it's essential to encourage people to take up business and commerce. He also praised the Chief Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, for his initiatives in promoting industrial development in the state. Sarma urged the Assam Chamber of Commerce to organize workshops to encourage the younger generation to take up business and commerce. He emphasized that with courage, patience, and hard work, one can succeed in business and other fields. The meeting adopted a resolution with 14 points, including promoting local products, empowering local artisans, supporting Indian industries, promoting Indian handicrafts and jewelry, and honoring Indian women. The resolution also emphasized the importance of the "Beti Bachao Beti Padhao" campaign and the "Skill India" initiative. During the meeting, a new committee for the Assam Chamber of Commerce for the next three years was also formed, taking Rupam Goswami as the President, Shishir Kalita as the Working President, and Basanta Kumar Kalita and Naval Kishore Khandelkar as secretaries. Debangshu Sarma from Nagaon was included as the Vice-President of the committee. The meeting was attended by prominent members of the Assam Chamber of Commerce, including Jayanta Sarma, Surendra Singh Shekhawat, Nanu Das, and Jiban Banik.
