Guwahat: In view of the heavy influx of pilgrims for the annual Ambubachi Mela at the famed Kamakhya Temple, the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has rolled out a comprehensive set of arrangements to ensure smooth, safe, and comfortable travel for devotees. To manage the rush, NFR has established special ticket counters at Kamakhya and Guwahati railway stations. These counters are operating round the clock to enable hassle-free ticketing and reduce crowding at regular counters. In a humanitarian initiative, the Northeast Frontier Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (NFRWWO), led by its President Mrs. Shalini Shrivastava, has launched a food and water distribution drive. Hygienically prepared food packets and bottled drinking water are being distributed to pilgrims at Kamakhya station and nearby areas to ensure their well-being. To accommodate the surge in passenger demand, NFR will operate two pairs of special unreserved trains. Train No. 05672/05671 (Guwahati–Alipurduar Jn.–Guwahati) will run daily between June 22 and 27, while Train No. 05698/05697 (Guwahati–New Jalpaiguri–Guwahati) will run on June 26 and 27. Train No. 05672 will depart Guwahati at 19:25 hrs from June 22 to 26, reaching Alipurduar Jn. at 04:00 hrs the next day. The return service, Train No. 05671, will leave Alipurduar Jn. at 08:00 hrs from June 23 to 27, arriving in Guwahati at 16:20 hrs the same day. Additionally, Train No. 05698 will leave Guwahati at 23:55 hrs on June 26, reaching New Jalpaiguri at 08:15 hrs. The return, Train No. 05697, will depart New Jalpaiguri at 11:15 hrs on June 27, reaching Guwahati by 19:30 hrs. To further assist pilgrims, NFR has ramped up manpower deployment. Additional Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP), and technical staff have been positioned at key locations to manage crowds, provide guidance, and maintain security. Help desks and enquiry booths are also operational. NFR has urged all passengers to cooperate with railway staff and follow instructions to ensure a safe and smooth travel experience during the spiritual gathering.
