NFR Takes Major Steps to Boost Efficiency and Well-being of Loco Pilots

Guwahati: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has taken major steps to improve the efficiency, safety, and well-being of its Loco Pilots, recognizing their crucial role in ensuring smooth train operations. To enhance rest and recovery facilities, NFR recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art Running Room at Agartala, featuring 24 residential rooms (48 beds), 10 community rooms including a gym, yoga hall, kitchen, and dining area. This is the first such facility in NFR with a lift, and all rooms are air-conditioned with 24x7 water, CCTV, pest control, and emergency exits. The Running Room at New Coochbehar has also achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification. For mental health support, NFR has launched family counselling sessions, with one held at New Coochbehar on June 18, allowing open interaction between staff families and officials to reduce stress and boost morale. Technological upgrades include audio-visual road learning modules to help Loco Pilots understand route features, waterless urinals in locomotives for convenience, and the 'Gyaanvaapi' app for easy access to technical knowledge and circulars. Call Detail Record (CDR) analysis ensures alertness and accountability, while integration of data loggers with the Control Office Application (COA) at 59 stations allows real-time monitoring of train and crew performance. Through these initiatives, NFR reinforces its commitment to creating a safer, healthier, and more efficient working environment for its frontline operational staff, blending advanced technology with a people-first approach.
