Nibir Hazarika from Assam Selected for Indian Swimming Team for Asian Youth Games 2025

Guwahati: Assam’s talented swimmer Nibir Hazarika has been selected for the Indian swimming team for the upcoming Asian Youth Games 2025. This prestigious sporting event will be held in Bahrain from October 23 to 27 next. Based on his performance in the 78th Senior National Swimming Championship and time trials, the Swimming Federation of India announced a 14-member Indian team on 12 June 2025, under the eligibility and selection policy, in which Nibir secured his place representing Assam. This news has brought a wave of joy in Assam’s swimming community. This is the second major achievement within a month—earlier, Jananjay Jyoti Hazarika and Tirthankar were announced to participate in the World Junior Aquatic Championship. Assam Swimming Association Secretary Bhaskar Ranjan Das and Publicity Secretary Mukuteswar Goswami congratulated Nibir for his international selection and wished him a bright future. They said this is a moment of pride and inspiration for the Assam team.
