Silchar Celebrates 11th International Yoga Day with Unity and Enthusiasm

Silchar: The 11th International Yoga Day was celebrated with great fervour at the Indoor Stadium of India Club on Saturday morning. Organised by the National Ayush Mission, Assam, in collaboration with the District Administration of Cachar, the event embraced this year’s global theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” Hundreds of students, officials, and yoga enthusiasts participated in a synchronised yoga session, promoting wellness and unity. Chief Guest Kaushik Rai, Minister for Barak Valley Development, praised yoga as a transformative tool under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya highlighted yoga's role in addressing stress and lifestyle issues, urging the youth to adopt it. Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha underscored yoga’s scientific credibility and its growing global appeal. Dignitaries including Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, SP Numal Mahatta, and senior district officials took part in the session, reinforcing the wellness message. Winners of the District-Level Yoga Asana Competition 2025 were felicitated for their outstanding performances. CEO of Zilla Parishad, Pranab Kumar Bora, stressed the need to make yoga a daily habit for a healthier, balanced life.
