Tezpur: A Special District Level Consultative Committee (DLCC) meeting for Sonitpur District was held on Wednesday ( July 2, 2025) at the Conference Hall of the District Commissioner’s Office, Sonitpur, as per the instruction of the Department of Financial Services, Government of India. The meeting aimed to work out the details of the ongoing three-month saturation campaign for Financial Schemes (FI) at the Gram Panchayat (GP) level, being held from 1st July to 30th September 2025. The meeting was presided over by the District Commissioner of Sonitpur, Shri Ankur Bharali. Also present were the District Development Commissioner of Sonitpur, Shri Lakhinandan Saharia, Director of RSETI, Sonitpur, Shri Jiten Sarmah, and Branch Heads of District Coordinating Bank branches across the district.


Lead District Manager (LDM) Shri Achajya Sonowal, who convened the meeting, outlined the main objectives of the campaign. He informed that the campaign will be coordinated by the LDM under the overall guidance of the District Commissioner. The exact schedule of the camps to be held at the GP headquarters will be decided by the DLCC, which will also assign responsibility for organizing each camp to a specific bank operating in or near the concerned Panchayat. These banks may include Scheduled Commercial Banks, Regional Rural Banks, India Post Payments Bank, or Co-operative Banks. Assistance will be provided by the relevant State Level Bankers Committee Bank. The LDM highlighted that the campaign will focus on four key activities: re-verification of KYC for inactive PMJDY accounts, opening of bank accounts for unbanked adults under PMJDY, enrolments under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), and enrolments under Atal Pension Yojana (APY).


To ensure the successful implementation of the campaign, the District Commissioner held a detailed discussion on aspects such as pre-campaign preparations, communication strategies, camp arrangements, budgeting, monitoring and reporting mechanisms, stakeholder responsibilities, and recognition of high-performing banks and LDMs. He also emphasized targeting unbanked populations, especially in tea garden areas of the district, and advised banks to align this initiative with the Assam Government’s ongoing "Eti Koli, Duti Paat" Scheme.
