State level Jayanta Hazarika song competition held in Jamugurihat

Biswanath Chariali: State level competition on the songs of iconic singer Jayanta Hazarika was held at the conference hall of the Baresohoriya Bhaona project site here. The state level competition convened by Jhankar, a cultural organization of the greater Jamugurihat area was inaugurated by illumination of an earthen lamp in front of the portrait of the legendary singer Jayanta Hazarika by Pallabita Sarma Mahanta, chairman of Jamuguri Town Committee followed by a song of Jayanta Hazarika performed by Purna Nath, recipient of artiste pension. At the very outset of the programme, Manisha Hazarika, wife of the legendary artiste and eminent singer Manisha Hazarika forwarded a welcome address over telephone. The inaugural session was attended by Naduar MLA Padma Hazarika and Prithviraj Rabha, MLA Tezpur LAC as distinguished guests. Nearly six hundred participants across the state participated in the competition. Bidyut Kumar Bhuyan and Kajal Bora graced the competition as judges. The competition was held in two categories. Attiyani Gogoi, Kungsangbong Tamang and Rengani Chutiya begged the first, second and third positions respectively in category A. While Nayanika Saikia, Jubilee Bora, Nidir Nath, Jiyonanihi Goutam, Abinab Nath, Nistha Saikia and Tapashya Barua won the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively. On the other hand, Sristi Kanan Adhikari, Kangkana Devi, Pritam Dutta won the first, second and third positions respectively in category B. And Kangkana Kakaty, Pahismitia Mahanta, Rangana Jhatu Ragini, Hrishika Bora, Debashruti Kashyap, Prashidha Sivam and Dipjyoti Devanath begged the fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and tenth positions respectively in category B. Hanvi Bhuyan won the juries special award. Both the top four winners of each category won Jayanta Hazarika memorial trophies along with a cash amount of rupees five thousand, three thousand, two thousand and one thousand rupees respectively. Rest of the rank holders were awarded with the trophies and citation while all the participants were awarded with certificates of participation. Bani Kanta Das and Ritushmin Bhuyan, president and secretary of the organizing committee respectively offered thanks to all for their participation and cooperation.
